"IMO, the spell description clarifies that this spell only moves 125 cubic feet per round." Wow, thanks for that clarification Anthony! I had totally misinterpreted the potency of the spell. As you probably realized, I thought it created a 125' deep shaft that is 5' x 5', but now I understand that all the spell really does is is dig out one 5' x 5' x 5' cube every round which is what the second sentence of the spell essentially says. So all that stuff about the hole appearing under a creature would result in the creature falling at most 5' (assuming the hole doesn't go through the ceiling of a cavern or something) and not taking any damage! Clearly not what I was imagining which was creatures falling to their deaths and being buried alive :-) Thanks also for sharing your rules for cave-ins/avalanches, I'll keep them handy for when that situation comes up.
