Wanted to start a thread where all relevant info can be gathered. First question: What do the reddish dots on the maps symbolize? Perhaps a map key, even just a written one, would be helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for the quick response! It'll be awhile before I get this in front of my players so I will wait until you are able to release the summary with PDF. Thanks for the link to the DM maps too.
There are currently no plans for a PDF because my players have not yet completed the adventure. Once my players complete the adventure, I plan to write up a summary of the experience and add it to a PDF version that I will then release. If, however, you need hi res un-numbered play maps, just let me know. The DM versions should be available here.:
Hi Anthony - I just ordered Dream House off of Lulu and I am really looking forward to digging into it. Are you planning to sell a PDF of Dream House as well? I didn't see a PDF available on Lulu. Thanks!
The method I use is largely based on AD&D snippets of lore. Foundationally, Name Speaking can summon a demon but offers no method of control. Therefore, Demonic True Names are more of a hazard than a tool. As a result, Demons WANT their names out there where fools can be cajoled into saying "Bloody Mary" three times in the mirror.
Therefore, Orcus' true name (in my game) IS Orcus...and woe to those players that slip up and speak it aloud.
I'll have to noodle on this further---I like the idea of names being sufficiently common to be spoken, heard, and responded to, but I also like the idea of truenames requiring research and consultating and dark pacts to learn.
Perhaps there's a common name that's tied to a truename, becomes bound to it through use and association over the aeons, and that's sufficient to conjure with, but not really the truename. Hmmm.....
Curious to know how you handled demonic names. The Dream House has a lot of demons with true names. Were the adventurers given an opportunity to learn those names? And to what end? Are there any other advantages to knowing a demon's true name other than if trying to summon it and bind it? More out of curiosity than anything. I have always found the idea of demon and devil summoning an intriguing one from a gaming angle, but have never been a character of high enough level nor DM'd a group powerful enough to do so. Great article about Aerial Combat btw!
Some actual-play assessments from Settembrini coming through at https://knights-n-knaves.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=17361 (but not a lot of detail yet).

Maybe there's a new Satanic Panic and you caught the edge of bleeding cool before it was censored. 😉
Bummer, I'll ask Shane about it. It was online last night....

Looks like the account was suspended.
This was released as a player aid for a recent Delta Green CoC book, but seemed awfully apt for use with DHotNP: http://demonweb101.com/

Ah, I got the red dots on doors, but was unsure about the pink dots. Thanks!
Pink dots are where corpses are piled up. Red dots on doors mean they are locked.
